I came to Lauren after only running for about 5 months. At the time I was content with my 10:30min/mile pace, but I wanted to go faster and further. The furthest I had gone was 8 miles at an 11min/mile pace. I kept up with Lauren’s blog and she speaks a lot about the importance of cross training and strength training. When she started her Power Hour class I signed up! Her studio is great, open, and full of motivation and support. After a few weeks of going I had a crazy idea to sign up for a half marathon. I, of course, had no idea what I was doing, and went to Lauren for help. She created a training plan for me that mixed long runs, intervals, tempos, rest days, strength training, and we also added 1 personal training session each week. Within just the first few weeks I shaved minutes off my pace. My initial goal for my half marathon was just to finish it – complete the miles. As my training increased and my speed increased, I started thinking of actual time goals. I set one of a time of 2:08 ( when I registered I put 2:30 on my form). My actual completion time was 2 hours flat (9:11 min/pace)! 8 minutes ahead of my goal! Lauren was with me every single step of the way answering questions, offering guidance, and just being there for support. I honestly could not have gotten anywhere near that time if it weren’t for her training. I feel so much stronger in everything I do. I see muscles I never knew I had and even after 3 kids I am starting to see some abs! If I come across anyone who is interested in running, working out, or even just healthier recipes I immediately recommend Lauren and More Miles To Go. The next race is only 4 months away and I can’t wait to see what happens!
